Organization Profile

The Eastern Coal Council, created in 1979, as a membership organization of coal, rail, and power industries, manufacturing and service companies, educational institutions, researchers and educators, chambers of commerce, and individuals who work together for the purpose of promoting coal, rail and power through education and public awareness.

Mission

Encourage and promote in every way the utilization of coal in every way, both at home and abroad.

Assist the coal industry in providing quality education problems and factual information for the general public.

Support clean coal technology incentives.

Team up with organizations supplying true factual information about coal.

Expand knowledge about the coal industry to states and federal legislators and to the federal government.

Reform public opinion about coal.

Negotiate with all energy providers working together insuring an affordable, dependable and reliable energy source.

Clear up the misconception about coal.

Outreach to communities throughout the U.S. the importance of coal in meeting today's standards of living.

Advocate coal as an affordable, clean, dependable and reliable energy source.

Launch an educational and public awareness campaign for coal TODAY.
